Application ID as defined by ISO 7816-5
Application Load Certificate
The organisation or service which takes applications and generates Application Load Units (ALUs)
A card Bureau which undertakes card enablement and other processing on behalf of an Issuer
The cards belonging to an Issuer
A subset of an Issuer's card base
Card enablement data. This is data which associates a card with an Issuer
The date on which the Enablement Data was created. The date is represented as a decimal number between 0 and 255 and increments by one for each month, starting with January 1998.
Interface Device. A terminal or reader which can communicate with a smart card.
Issuer Identification Number. An international identifier for Issuers allocated on behalf of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and complying with ISO/IEC 7812
The organisation which develops the code for a ROM Mask from the MULTOS Implementation Specifications
Organization controlling the issuance of smart cards
6 digit Issuer identifier selected by the Issuer at the time of registration. Can be an IIN or BIN
Key Management Authority. The entity which provides digital certificates such as ALCs, ADCs and Enablement Data
MULTOS Carrier Device. Most often a microprocessor based smart card
Unique card identifier set when a MULTOS chip is manufactured.
Unique card serial number allocated by StepNexus Server when a card is enabled
MULTOS Executable Language. The instruction set of the Application Abstract Machine, as defined in the MULTOS Developers Reference Manual
Term equivalent to card enablement data. This is data which associates a card with an Issuer. The term MSM Controls is no longer used

Personal Identification Number
Identifies a group of cards as defined by the Issuer eg Gold card. Set by the Issuer when a card is enabled.
Read Only Memory Identifier

The organisation which takes ROM Mask information from an Implementer and uses it to create a MULTOS integrated circuit (‘chip’)
A plastic card containing a microprocessor chip and memory that conforms to ISO 7816 and other smart card industry standards. Smart cards may be interfaced through a contact plate and/or via a contacless (wireless) interface
In general this is a cryptographic system whose strength is such that it is not exempt from export controls from a particular country. In the case of MULTOS devices all the inbuilt cryptographic primitives are considered to be ‘strong’
